Your first Class

Your first Class

What to Bring:

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated.

  • A small towel to wipe away sweat.

  • Your own yoga mat.

  • A Yogitoes towel, if you have one.

  • Yoga blocks - I recommend at least two (here is a LINK to affordable blocks I really like, where you can purchase them if needed).

  • A strap. If you don't have a yoga strap, a soft belt or a dog leash will suffice. Here is a LINK to the long strap and LINK to shorter strap I like.

What to Expect in Your First Yoga Class

Bring curiosity and an open mind. Every teacher is different, and so is every yoga class.
This is your space. It's not a competition.

Arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in, set up your mat, and settle in.

Please silence your cell phones and ideally leave them away from your mat.

Avoid heavy meals before class, but it's okay to have a light snack to give you energy.

Listen to your body and never push yourself beyond your limits. If a pose doesn't feel right, back off and ask for a modification.

If you have an injury that you are recovering from, please let me know in the beginning of a class. Yin class might be the best option to attend as your first class if you have prior injury and in recovery.

    Signing the Waiver Agreement:

Before attending your first yoga class with me outside of the traditional studio, you must sign a waiver agreement. It is available on this page below for your convenience. If you decide to "drop in" to any yoga class for the first time at the last minute and did not sign a waiver prior to the class, printed versions will also be available for you to sign in person.

    After Your Class:

  • Drink plenty of water and eat a snack after your class to replenish your body.
  • It's normal to feel some muscle soreness after your first class, especially if you're new to yoga. Gentle stretching and staying hydrated can help alleviate this.
  • Have the most amazing day!
